Planning a trip to Cornwall with a group of friends or family? I have the perfect luxury holiday cottage for you.
Located in the charming town of Wadebridge, Hillcote is a spacious period property with generous living space and impeccable interiors.
This gorgeous family home is managed by Aspects Holidays, who specialise in boutique self-catering holiday cottages in Cornwall.
With four bedrooms, two large reception rooms, and a fully equipped kitchen, it’s ideal for a group getaway.
I stayed at Hillcote with five friends in July; here I share my experience and thoughts of this Cornish hideaway.
Accommodation details at Hillcote
There are two well appointed reception rooms at Hillcote, complete with plush sofas, cosy blankets, ornate fireplaces and beautiful design details.
The kitchen and dining area is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare meals during your stay.
From every utensil imaginable to salt, pepper, olive oil, milk and more.
Upstairs, Hillcote has four well-appointed bedrooms which can accommodate up to eight guests.
The master bedroom on the second floor has a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a balcony.
Three of the bedrooms can be made up as doubles or twins. While the final bedroom is a smaller room with bunk beds – perfect for families with little ones.
In addition to the en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom, Hillcote has a further bathroom on the first floor, with a shower and a giant bath.
Outside, there is a gorgeous garden with a seating area, dining area, outdoor shower and barbecue.
Despite visiting in July, there was torrential rain on our planned barbecue evening.
So sadly we couldn’t make the most of the garden. But as true Brits do, we continued with our barbecue plans anyway!
Rain aside, I can imagine the garden being the perfect spot to enjoy some alfresco dining or a glass of wine in the evening.

Things to do nearby
Hillcote is in such a fantastic location for a number of different activities – whether you’re looking for the best seafood restaurants in Cornwall or more active adventures.
For a civilised but boozy afternoon, go wine and cider tasting at nearby Trevibban Mill. You can do a tour or simply go straight in with the wine, cider, or both!
For a more active adventure, take to the water with a few hours of kayaking.
We booked through Cornish Kayaking and can highly recommend them.
Other active options include surfing lessons, paddleboarding or coasteering – all sure to be great fun.
If the weather is good, hire some bikes and cycle the Camel Trail to Padstow. Here you can wander the town and grab a bite to eat.
Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant
A highlight of our Padstow trip was our meal at Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant.
One for lovers of seafood, the restaurant has a worldwide reputation for serving the finest fish and shellfish.
As you’d expect, the chefs make use of the best local produce to create a menu of both classic and contemporary dishes.
We were hungry after our kayaking adventures earlier in the day. So we had appetisers, starters, mains and even managed to squeeze in some dessert.
Every course was just *chef’s kiss* – definitely one to visit when in Padstow!

Final words
After three wonderful nights at Hillcote, it was time to check-out. I cannot recommend Hillcote highly enough.
The fact that we all left with camera rolls full of the interiors for our own home design inspiration says it all!
Aspects Holidays were also fantastic at thinking of every detail. The information provided on the property was wonderfully detailed and you had everything you could possibly need.
