As one of the most upmarket Greek islands, there’s no shortage of five star hotels in Santorini.

The deluxe properties here can satisfy your every whim, whether you want a private plunge pool, are seeking a spa resort, fancy fine dining, or simply want to savour sea views from the infinity pool.

From honeymooners’ favourites to family-friendly properties, here are the top 10 luxury hotels in Santorini.

These hand-picked hotels all have something special to offer, and were chosen based on both my own and other seasoned travellers’ Santorini experiences.

1. Nobu Hotel Santorini

Address: Eparchiaki Odos Firon-Ias, Imerovigli

Best for: An exclusive feel

Close to the route of the Oia-Fira hiking trail, Nobu Hotel Santorini occupies a peaceful position, yet is conveniently sited for bustling Oia and Thira.

Guests can enjoy the exclusive, private feel of this property between May and October, when the sun shines on the Greek islands.

Nobu Hotel Santorini feels typically Greek, comprising a cluster of whitewashed, sugar cube buildings with stunning ocean views.

Interiors are clean and crisp, with lots of white offset by soothing natural hues.

Key perks include a beautiful pool area, seamless service, a range of curated guest experiences and, of course, acclaimed Japanese dining at the Nobu restaurant.

I had the most incredible stay at Nobu Hotel Santorini and it has become my favourite hotel on the island.

2. Santo Mine Oia Suites

Address: Oia Santorini, Oia

Best for: Proximity to Oia

Santo Mine Oia Suites effortlessly combines a laid-back lifestyle with the ultimate in luxury.

The property is carved into the cliffs perched above Ammoudi Bay, where a stone mine once stood. Hence the name of another of my personal favourite hotels in Santorini.

Cycladic minimalist style with pops of warm tones characterise this hotel, and every suite comes with its own private pool or jacuzzi.

I can testify that service is flawless, as is the food – don’t miss a meal at the incredible Ālme fish restaurant. The sunsets here are unparalleled too.

Amenities to ensure the perfect stay include a restaurant, a bar, a gym, an outdoor pool, and a spa.

3. Santorini Sky

Address: Profiti Ilia, Santorini 847 00

Best for: Private plunge pools

Santorini Sky

This sky-high hotel in Santorini is perched 2,000 feet above the Aegean Sea.

The deluxe resort comprises a series of six villas, and every one offers a private plunge pool plus panoramic ocean views.

Both inside and out, the style here is slick yet simple. With natural tones and blue accents, the palette is typically Greek.

As well as making the most of your own kitchen facilities, guests here can order room service, visit the coffee shop, and even order a packed lunch.

Spa treatments can also be arranged by the welcoming staff.

4. The Vasilicos

Address: Agios Nicolaos, Imerovigli 847 00

Best for: Romantic breaks

The Vasilicos Caldera Heritage Suites are marketed at those seeking pure escapism, such as honeymooners and loved-up couples.

This resort is awash with romance, and has won accolades from Condé Nast Traveler and Tripadvisor for the standard of accommodation.

The V Team running The Vasilicos is the secret of this luxury resort’s success, and the service is unfailingly attentive and always with a smile.

A unique feature of this Santorini property is the Caldera views from a number of the suites, and some also have plunge pools.

Though your accommodation is very private, you can meet and mingle with other guests at the shared lounge, the bar and restaurant, and the outdoor pool.

5. Andronis Boutique Hotel

Address: Nik. Nomikou, Oía 847 02

Best for: Exclusive experiences

Andronis-Boutique-Hotel-Exterior

Andronis Boutique Hotel is tailor made for both unforgettable views and experiences.

With 24 well-appointed villas and suites, it’s small enough to feel personal, yet large enough to offer some great facilities.

Dine in style at Lauda Restaurant, or unwind at Mare Sanus spa.

Uniquely, Andronis guests can book the Andronis Ferretti experience, a half day yacht cruise around the island including lunch, soft drinks, and wine.

The hotel also offers slick, neutral decor, an outdoor pool, a bar and restaurant, and a range of other guest experiences including candlelit meals, cookery classes, and yoga tuition.

6. Iconic Santorini

Address: Imerovigli 847 00

Best for: Caldera views

Iconic Santorini

Like The Vasilicos, Iconic Santorini offers breathtaking caldera views from its refined range of suites.

The property clings to the cliffside, overlooking the caldera, and offers the sort of clean, crisp interiors synonymous with Santorini.

Gazing out over the island from the infinity pool is a truly unforgettable experience.

Begin each day with breakfast served on the seaview terrace, pamper yourself at the on-site spa, take a short walk to local cafes and bars, drink in the ocean panoramas, and savour a delicious dinner at the restaurant.

Every suite here has a sea view, and some also feature jetted plunge pools.

7. Perivolas

Address: Perivolas, Thira 847 02

Island living is the name of the game at Perivolas Lifestyle Houses in Santorini.

Here the stunning coastal landscapes take centre stage, ably backed up by a warm welcome, perfect peace, and delectable dining.

From start to finish, the staff here go out of their way to make your stay special.

The houses are located within restored 300-year-old caves, while the restaurant is housed in a renovated wine cellar.

It’s a character-packed setting with a fitness centre, a spa with hot tub, sauna, and steam bath, Perivolas Restaurant and bar, and a couple of pools.

8. Domes Novos Santorini

Address: Tholos 847 02

Best for: A family-friendly stay

Domos Novos

Whether you’re seeking a spa resort or five star hotels in Santorini for families, Domes Novos can tick both boxes.

The Cycladic-style complex has 52 beautiful bungalows and villas, all of which have a private pool.

This resort offers a great range of amenities, and a local feel due to the clever use of volcanic materials.

Family-friendly facilities include a kids’ club, free WiFi throughout, gardens with a playground, and an outdoor pool with a sunny terrace.

Adults, meanwhile, will appreciate the wellness centre, gym, and evening entertainment programme.

9. Katikies

Address: Nik. Nomikou, Oía 847 02

Best for: Shopping and dining

Katikies Santorini

Katikies proudly sits 300 feet above the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. It’s a tranquil spot, yet you can reach many of the boutiques and tavernas of Oia via a five-minute walk.

Not that you’ll need to, with a trio of pools, hot tubs, a pair of restaurants, a snack bar, and even a fashion store on site.

This sought-after property belongs to the prestigious The Leading Hotels Of The World group, and is suitably stylish throughout.

Expect a cool Greek palette of blue and white, warmed up by natural wood tones.

10. Magma Resort

Address: Vourvoulos 847 00

Best for: Affordable luxury

Magma Resort Pool

On Santorini’s northeastern coast is Magma Resort, a Hyatt property with 59 rooms and suites.

With more affordable room rates than some luxury hotels in Santorini, you can enjoy real luxury here without breaking the bank.

Magma Resort’s larger rooms and suites all come with ocean views, and some feature a private pool or hot tub.

Magma Suite Seaview with Private Pool

The standard of service here is superb, and amenities at this Unbound Collection resort include a range of pools, restaurants and bars, plus a spa and a gym.

It’s contemporary in style, with natural shades and clean lines throughout.
