1. The Fish, Broadway

The sprawling 500-acre private estate of The Fish Hotel is perfect for long walks with your dog.

What I really like about this hotel is that all of its rooms are dog-friendly. This is a rare find in the Cotswolds, and pretty much anywhere around the UK.

There’s a small extra charge of £30 per dog per night, but the amenities make it worthwhile.

The Fish provides plush dog beds, a doggy welcome package, treats, plus clean bowls for your pet’s food and water.

The hotel offers a quirky assortment of huts and treehouse suites. I personally stayed in one of the treehouses, which all have gorgeous double outdoor baths.

For a cosier retreat and a private hot tub, you may like the Shepherd’s huts.

The Hook restaurant is definitely worth booking into for a delicious meal. Note that dogs aren’t allowed in the main area, but they can join you at the bar.

2. The Manor House, Castle Combe

Dogs are welcome in this 14th-century Manor House set in the idyllic village of Castle Combe.

Pets are allowed in specific rooms only, so make sure you book in advance and select a dog-friendly option.

There’s a £25 per night charge for your furry friend, but watching him explore the Italian gardens and woodland paths makes up for it.

You can get a luxurious room in the main house or the Mews Cottages. The in-house restaurant, Bybrook, is Michelin-starred and it’s a must-visit for foodies, although it’s not dog-friendly.

Alternatively, you can take your pup, and get a light dinner at the Castle Inn. Discover more of the best pubs and restaurants in Castle Combe.

3. The Greenway, Shurdington

The Greenway

The Greenway is an Elizabethan manor house that was built in the 16th century. Its rooms and suites are all exceptional, and some of them are available for dogs.

They charge an extra £20 per night fee, but your dog will have a separate bed, food and water bowls, and a generous pack of treats.

While you’re there, try to explore the famous Cheltenham Racecourse. Later in the day, you can take your dog and head to the lounge or terrace, where you’ll get a delightful high tea.

4. The Lygon Arms, Broadway

The Lygon Arms

The Lygon Arms is another Broadway favourite. It’s a coaching inn that dates back to the 14th century.

This hotel has a compelling history, having hosted both royalty and a number of rebellious figures over the years.

You can book a dog-friendly room at The Lygon Arms for an added charge of £25 per night. Your pup can also accompany you to the bar or courtyard.

I’d recommend taking the time to enjoy the Lygon Arms’s impressive spa and the 3 AA Rosette restaurant, although your dog won’t be able to join you for these.

5. De Vere Cotswold Water Park, Cirencester

De Vere Cotswold Water Park

If you want to experience the Cotswolds in an original, spectacular, and fun way, you should try the De Vere Cotswold Water Park.

It’s built in the middle of 152 lakes and, as the name implies, its appeal lies in its waterside location.

Your dog is welcome at De Vere for an extra charge of £30 per night. Only some of the rooms accommodate pets, but that’s not an issue.

The whole hotel is surrounded by natural beauty and stunning views, so there is plenty to explore with your furry friend.

6. The Old Stocks Inn, Stow-on-the-Wold

The Old Stocks Inn

I have no doubt that you’ll fall in love with the irresistible charm of The Old Stocks Inn right away!

Pets are welcome in select rooms, and there’s an additional £20 charge. The staff will go above and beyond to make you and your furry friend feel at home.

They even offer a ‘doggy afternoon tea’, which is reason enough to book your dog into this inn!!

7. Whatley Manor, Malmesbury

Whatley Manor

Both you and your pup will receive a five-star treatment at this grand Cotswolds manor house.

Whatley Manor is countryside luxury at its best. It spreads over 12 acres, most of them meticulously manicured gardens.

Seven of the rooms are available for dog companions, and they require an extra charge of £30 per night.

Plus, the staff will be able to recommend dog-friendly walks and pubs in the area to really make the most of your experience.

8. Lords of the Manor in Upper Slaughter

Lords of the Manor

If you’re in the heart of the Cotswolds, then you’ll have easy access to some of the finest dog-friendly walks in the area.

The Lords of the Manor Hotel has the perfect location, scenery, and pet-friendliness.

The 25-room hotel was built back in the mid-17th century, and it has all the quaint elegance of the era. Their dog charges aren’t exorbitant though, and rarely exceed £25 per night.

You know that I have a soft spot for fine dining, so I can highly recommend the hotel’s Michelin- starred restaurant, Atrium.

9. Lucknam Park, Chippenham

Lucknam Park Hotel Cotswolds

If you want to experience luxury, English mansion traditions, and relaxed elegance, then you should spend a few days at the Lucknam Park Hotel.

It stands on a mile-long avenue, surrounded by 500 acres of parkland.

The estate is a haven for dogs with its superlative hospitality, well-prepared accommodation, and countless walking trails.

To that end, they offer a ‘Pampered Pooch’ package, which includes a cosy dog bed, treats, food containers, and a doggy afternoon tea.

The added charge for your pet friend is £25 per night, and only in some rooms.

I also consider Lucknam Park to be one of the best spa hotels in the UK.

10. The Mousetrap Inn, Bourton-on-the-Water

From the outside, the Mousetrap Inn might look like many 19th-century countryside hotels.

Once you step in, you’ll pick up the flair and charisma that characterise every corner of this lovely place.

It’s an exclusive lodging, with only 11 individually designed bedrooms. The marvellous part is that there’s no additional charge at all for hosting your dog.

While you’re there, savour the opulence of the destination restaurant, and live a little at the ‘Freehouse pub’.

There’s so much to do and see in the scenic Cotswold town of Bourton-on-the-Water. Have a read of my guides before visiting:
