The beautiful, bucket-list destination of Budapest is more than worthy of staying somewhere truly special. With hotels housed in historic buildings, plus some breathtaking design-led interiors, there are plenty of boutique hotels in Budapest to choose from.
I adore finding gorgeous boutique hotels that offer something a little more unique than the big global brands.
My handpicked list of the Hungarian capital’s 10 best boutique hotels has been compiled based on my own experience of the city, as well as hot tips from fellow travellers.

1. Aria Hotel Budapest
Address: Hercegprímás u. 5, 1051 Budapest
Best for: Music fans
With large, luxurious, and comfortable rooms, Aria Hotel in Budapest offers five star style in a convenient location.
Unique features include the lovely interior courtyard, and the sweeping city views from the rooftop bar. Staff are also incredibly welcoming.
This Library Hotel Collection property offers boutique-style accommodation with a musical theme.
Guests can also borrow CDs and DVDs from the library, and attend a complimentary cheese and wine reception during the late afternoon (I’ll see you there!).
Plus, you can enjoy free hot drinks, cookies, and fruit throughout the day.
2. Brody House
Address: Bródy Sándor u. 10, 1088 Budapest
Best for: Shabby chic
A neoclassical Budapest townhouse is home to this smart boutique hotel. With only 11 rooms, I love the more personal feel of this property.
The decor also offers a shabby chic meets arty vibe, with high ceilings and original parquet flooring adding both character and a sense of space.
Brody House is also in an unbeatable position, opposite the Hungarian National Museum yet on a pleasant and peaceful street.
You can purchase the artworks on display here if you want to. If you have an aversion to peeling or scuffed paint this isn’t perhaps the place for you, but it’s packed with alternative appeal.
3. Verno House
Address: Október 6. u. 26, 1051 Budapest
Best for: A social vibe
Occupying a corner position in downtown Budapest, 50-room Verno House offers all the amenities you could wish for during a weekend break.
Another real perk of staying at Verno House is the deluxe spa, which has a hot tub and sauna.
Rooms are contemporary in style, with sash windows letting in lots of light and sleek, Japandi-style lines.
The hotel also offers a gym, a concierge, room service, and serves a yummy breakfast daily.
I’d definitely recommend having dinner at the hotel’s Michelin recommended restaurant, Flava.
It specialises in delicious sharing dishes, and the meal I enjoyed here was one of my favourites in Budapest.
4. Hotel Moments Budapest
Address: Andrássy út 8, 1061 Budapest
Best for: A World Heritage Site
Andrássy Avenue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Budapest, where Hotel Moments can be found.
This luxury property offers a dramatic galleried landing overlooking a stylish guest lounge, where you can kick back and relax or mingle with other guests.
I really rate the range of room types to choose from here, including signature design rooms, the Basilica suite with a terrace, and top floor rooms.
The decor and the building itself also give visitors a real sense of place.
5. Kozmo Hotel Suites & Spa
Address: Horváth Mihály tér 17, 1082 Budapest
Best for: An indoor pool
A member of Leading Hotels of the World, Kozmo Hotel Suites and Spa offers affordable luxury accommodation in Budapest.
As well as refined rooms and suites plus a sumptuous spa, this property offers a convenient airport transfer service, which takes the stress out of getting to and from the city.
Angular lines, crisp white linens, monochrome tones, and blonde herringbone wood flooring characterise the decor at Kozmo.
Though compact, the indoor pool is also a real perk for those who like to unwind in the water at the end of a busy day – or take a dip before heading out exploring.
6. Casati Budapest Hotel
Address: Paulay Ede u. 31, 1061 Budapest
Best for: Choosing the decor
Casati Budapest Hotel offers both boutique chic and an unbeatable central location.
Uniquely, you can choose the style of decor here to suit you, whether you prefer a dark, dramatic cool room, a light, bright heaven room, a relaxing natural room, or a classic room.
Whichever you opt for, the contemporary style contrasts pleasingly against the historic, 18th century building in the Terézváros district.
The hotel is a previous winner of the Hungarian Hotel of the Year Award, and features original artworks throughout the interior.
Facilities include a landscaped courtyard, a spa, a 24-hour reception, and a gym.
7. Hotel Collect
Address: Ferenczy István u. 22, 1053 Budapest
Best for: A Michelin-recommended stay
Hotel Collect can be found in the heart of Budapest, and has a welcoming lobby bar.
It faces Károlyi Garden, the city’s oldest public park, which serves as a peaceful retreat for both children and adults. This has a summer cafe, plus playgrounds, a fountain, and statues.
Though it only has 16 rooms, Hotel Collect has made enough of an impact on Budapest’s hotel scene to be Michelin-recommended.
French, Art Deco, and Belle Époque influences are evident throughout. This four star property offers a selection of accommodation with courtyard or park views, or a private balcony.
8. Hotel Clark
Address: Clark Ádám tér 1, 1013 Budapest
Best for: City views
If you want a tranquil stay for just the two of you, Hotel Clark is an adults-only property offering rooms and suites.
Some overlook the Chain Bridge, so I recommend booking one of these if you want to enjoy iconic city views throughout your stay.
Hotel Clark also has its own Art Corner, where there are contemporary art exhibitions.
Another highlight is Leo Rooftop, with a bistro, cocktails and of course skyline views – I’d definitely recommend stopping for a drink here, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
Touches of bohemian flair also elevate the interior here, making it stand out from the crowd.
9. Ikonik Parlament
Address: Kálmán Imre u. 19, 1054 Budapest
Best for: A tea and coffee lounge
Ikonik Parlament Budapest is a Travel Proud property offering modern accommodation close to local icons including St. Stephen’s Basilica.
Contemporary in style, the interior is far from bland, with elaborate patterns and curving shapes characterising the shared areas.
I love the dedicated drinks area, where guests can help themselves to tea, coffee, or water all day long.
Other key features include a spa including a sauna, a lounge bar, and a 24-hour front desk.
10. Alice Hotel
Address: Andrássy út 116, 1062 Budapest
Best for: Location, location, location
Like Hotel Moments, Alice Hotel is located on Andrássy Avenue in the historic heart of Budapest.
It’s housed in a 19th century villa, and some accommodation comes with a private terrace or balcony.
The location – on this elegant, central boulevard –is an obvious plus, but Alice Hotel has lots more to offer besides.
It offers parking, bike hire, and a restaurant serving Hungarian and international cuisine.
The decor is fresh and feminine, with chalky shades of pink, blue, and green, parquet flooring, and plump, comfortable furnishings.
