With an enviable beachfront position, Scorpios is a multi-purpose venue for dining, drinking, socialising and entertainment.

By day, you can rent a cabana at this Mykonos beach club. While at night the place comes alive with people mingling over dinner and cocktails.

Watching the sunset with a drink in hand is de rigueur, as the skies over the southern tip of the island change from the brightest blue to purple, pink and orange.

The fact that that beach club has an open plan restaurant plus a sandy beach means it’s easy to spend the entire day and evening here.

Good to know: If you want to avoid the pricey sunbed and cabana options, visit Scorpios for the Sunset Beach ritual from 17:00-19:00.

Here there is a more reasonable minimum spend and you will have an unforgettable evening. Just make sure you book in advance.

Fresh seafood has been a key feature of the menu here for decades. You can dine undercover or on some of the comfortable seating right down on the sand.

Some of the signature dishes to try at Hippie Fish include lobster spaghetti, shrimp and saffron risotto and the rib-eye steak.

Good to know: Check out the ‘Greek Nights’ at Hippie Fish, as they offer fun entertainment alongside your meal.

Run-of-the-mill drinks are the last thing you can expect at Alley. This place beats many other Mykonos bars hands-down.

Not least because the aromatic infusions, magical elixirs and lip-smacking syrups are made here on site.

Alley has been pleasing the palates of residents and visitors for over a decade now. They use local spices and herbs, as well as exotic ingredients from far-flung locations.

You can taste the world in a glass here, while the light, bright aqua blue and white exterior leaves you in no doubt about where on earth you are.

There’s history here too – the bar was named after George Bao, a local hero who defended the island during the 18th century.

9. Scarpa

Address: Mikonos, Greece

Best for: Waterfront location

Scarpa Mykonos

Scarpa is able to announce its address simply as ‘Mykonos, Greece’ due to the fact that its reputation precedes it.

The bar is firmly embedded in local culture, having existed here for over four decades.

Skandinavian Bar Mykonos

A typically Greek whitewashed exterior with doors and window frames picked out in sky blue may seem an incongruous setting for a bar and nightclub.

But that’s exactly what awaits at Skandinavian Bar and Disco.

Two levels, three bars and an open air courtyard set the scene for this disco and bar that first opened here in 1978.

Since then, it’s grown from a small local bar to one of the top party venues on Mykonos. For good times that last all night long, there’s no more exciting place to head for after sunset.
